I'm listening to the Hawkwind box at this very moment and absolutely loving every minute. The best compilation of stuff by a band I already know inside out ever!

As an old fan, i've not been disappointed either, think it'll make a great primer for those less familiar with their UA material too.

I've got one minor quibble, mind. It's a real shame that the rights issue with Warrior On The Edge Of Time doesn't allow for it to be compiled as part of this collection as it rightly and correctly deserves.

Sri Aurobindo - Return Into Earth - a bit of a slow burner by well worth persevering with IMO.

Apologies for butting in.

EDIT- deleted the initial post due to it being utter crap.

Er, playing it now and it's much as one would expect. Stoned and hypnotic stuff for the most part, some interesting instrumentation, quite a lot of variation in vibe, more emphasis on the cosmic but less of the groove than previous ?

Cover and song titles would indicate a thematic intent, that to my ears, is sometimes hard to find in the music itself.

Quite a bit of disconcerting low end distortion on my vinyl copy at times BTW, if it's intentional and not a pressing fault, it makes things just a bit too willfully fuzzy on the odd occasion for my taste so am interested to hear a CD copy now !

Please take the above with a large pinch of salt, i'm not to be relied on.

How's the new Sun Araw?

Actually I quite like it! It's a natural continuation of On Patrol which is a good thing. I wasn't as taken with earlier Sun Araw but he seems to have found his groove.

Greetings...

Lenny White - Presents the Adventures of Astral Pirates. Completely awesome in every way. I adore this marvelous thing!

David & Toni Arthur - Harken To The Witches Rune. V nice minimal saucy pagan folk. Thanks to Tone for making it available. Like it! I wonder if Humpty dug it? He always looked like he'd glug an ale or two in a folk club. Bet Hamble sacrificed things to it - she was GRUEsome!

Premontition 13 - 13. Rather shamefully this is, apart from the Shrinebuilder album, my only Winocentric album. Great stoner doom and in the song "Modern Man" they have a so-dumb it's awesome cave-man classic.

Urge Overkill - Saturation/ Exit The Dragon/ Rock n Roll Submarine. Top stuff and Saturation really is up there with the Posies' "Frosting on the Beater" as an all time pop/grunge/metal work of genius IMO.

Hey Colossus - RRR! Nice!

Dead Elephant - Thanatology. Doom noise melange. Nice.

The Dead Weather - Sea of Cowards
Gum Takes Tooth - Silent Cenotaph
Esben & The Witch - Violet Cries

The Devil's Blood - The Time Before the Time of Nevermore.
Julian Cope - Jehovah Kill
Julian Cope - Interpreter

Skindred - Union Black
Uriah Heep - Into The Wild

Wikan - Illegal Graves EP

Herbie Hancock - Crossings

Have a nice week tune tasters! x
