Five Leaves Left - Nick Drake
Pink Moon – Nick Drake
I don’t play Nick Drake anywhere near as often as I used to, but it doesn’t half still sound special. I expect Five Leaves Left to sounds as beautiful as ever and it doesn’t disappoint (Day Is Done has just been on - those high strings at the end of it are gorgeous!). Pink Moon, on the other hand, is generally considered a sparse album, consisting almost entirely as it does of just acoustic guitar and vocals, but listening to this track now it doesn’t sound that way at all. But that almost whispered voice and those gently picked strings fill out the sound to an almost lush degree. And Things Behind The Sun best described as beautiful rather than raw or harrowing which are other words I’m sure are generally used to describe this album.

The Stone Turntable - Transglobal Underground
I wasn’t sure about the latest from the mighty TGU at first but it’s a grower.

The Roots Of Paul McCartney – V/A
CD with this month’s Mojo. Little Richard, Eddie Cochran, chuck Berry and Chan Romero’s Hippy Hippy Shake. Really good if you like that kind of thing. I do!

Conscience – The Beloved / X – The Beloved
Not everyone’s cup of tea admittedly, but some great pop/dance numbers.

Also...
Peace At Last – Blue Nile
Raw Power - Iggy & The Stooges
Real Life – Magazine
The Correct Use Of Soap – Magazine
Young Gifted And Black: The Story Of Trojan Records – V/A

Plus
Black Session 2007 & Tiny Desk Session 2011 – Low
