Santana's Lotus is clearly an entire city, if not planet, and surely cannot be labelled as a sleeve or a jacket. I mean, you can't say it is when you take record 3 out of a different time zone than record 1! 8^) Similarly, Yessongs is so heavy it warps time and space, forming an entire seperate universe.

My fave of the year so far has to be the new Nightingales ep. Simple - their German bassist (from Faust studio on a bike - but very effective IMO. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5270/5634662864_b992813c74.jpg Available on 10" vinyl. I don't know if it's the scarcity factor or not, but there's something quite special about 10" records!

Durutti Column - Sandpaper Sleeve debut and LC Section 25 - Key of Dreams/ From the Hip OMD - debut/ Electricity Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures/ Licht Und Blunheit Buzzcoks - Malcolm Garrett and Linder designs for singles Kraftwerk - Autobahn Lots of quality stuff here Dave, including most of the ones I would have said. Unknown Pleasures needs to be the proper textured sleeve to really get the full beauty. ACR were very foolish to turn down the black-on-black idea that went to OMD for their Electricity single. I would add (some of these have already been mentioned, sorry): Virginia Astley - From Gardens Where We Feel Secure (the original cover, not the CD one) Billy Bragg - Life's A Riot With Spy vs Spy Cardiacs - A Little Man A House And The Whole World Window Gang of Four - Entertainment! "The Indian smiles, he thinks that the cowboy is his friend. The cowboy smiles, he is glad the Indian is fooled. Now he can exploit him." Joy Division - Transmission 7" A Factory Sample - 2x7" in plastic bag New Order - Ceremony 7"/Procession 7" in all nine colours/Blue Monday 12"/Fine Time 12"/Substance gatefold version Northside - Chicken Rhythms LP - the funniest/worst album cover ever Pet Shop Boys - Actually/Very (possibly the best CD sleeve, although see also XTC) PiL - Metal Box Ride - Nowhere (and the three EPs are pretty good too) Section 25 - Always Now (folding sleeve with marbled inside)/Girls Don't Count 7" Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen 7" Sisters of Mercy - Temple of Love 12" The Teardrop Explodes - Sleeping Gas EP/Reward 7" Tunnelvision - Watching The Hydroplanes 7" The Wonderstuff - It's Yer Money I'm After Baby 12" XTC - Fossil Fuel (with the moulded ammonite cover) V/A - To The Shores of Lake Placid gatefold and finally all the Factory albums that came out in the lovely linen cassette boxes (if anyone has "Always Now" or "Educes Me" and wants to sell...)
