Hunter T Wolfe wrote: Killing Joke- Absolute Dissent (was it Ming who was raving about this? I agree; classic Joke, a stunning return to form) Guilty as charged your honour. My metal album of the year. Easily.

Don't notice anything there Squid that would give that impression. The standard is very high 'richt enuf'.

Wow! Sand's classic Golem at that price is a steal! Seeing this I pulled out my beloved copy of Ultrasonic Seraphim and am currently enjoying May Rain. The whole Golem album just works for me and most especially at this time of year when the air gets colder, the leaves turn colors and skies are grey. It's such a beautiful thing. Congrats on your find!

Yeah- although several members of the band are old friends, so I'm somewhat biased! Not as funny/novelty as early singles like 'Mark E Smith,' but probably the better for it in the long term.

Congrats on your find! Innit? Apparently the Ultrasonic Seraphim CD goes for upwards of £50 these days; I've no idea what the vinyl is worth as it just doesn't turn up. And it's another I wouldn't even have been aware of if it wasn't for Julian's Unsung review a few years ago now, and him playing a couple of tracks when he was a guest on Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone. It stuck with me since then, great to finally have it. As you say, its bleak beauty is perfect for encroaching autumn evenings (and this time of year always makes me want to be in Berlin or Prague).

Will check it out. I didn't realise they even did a single called "Mark E Smith", but that's another reason to think they may be doing something right. Cheers Hunter.
