Trad Gras Och Stenar & Six Organs Of Admittance live at Miss Peapods ta to jplm the TGOS is the biz, and a brief listen to SOA sounds graet, will give better listen when I tire of the TGOS, will sort out your stuff asap MV&EE - Goodbye Moonface,Play Ella McDaniels Skyramps - Days of Thunder as recommended in these parts,D/L only I'm afraid but it is a rather spiffy combination of Oneohtrix with guitars Black Boned Angel - Verdun Natalie Merchant -Leave Your Sleep Max Richter - Blue Notebook Waterboys - This Is The Sea, Live Adventures rather enoying the big music at the moment Moss - Tomb of the Blind Drugged Moby - Wait For Me Hawkwind - Warrior On The Edge Of Time Kossoff - Back Street Crawler expanded way beyond sensible edition but not a note wasted Clash - On Broadway I believe the official hipster take on the Clash now is that they are/were false naughty punk upstarts and only Rocket From The Tombs are real, they wrote some cracking tunes though [ The Clash that is, RFTT wrote some nice tunes too] Keiji Haino - Light Darkness Melting Into One This Vibration, snappy title Keiji to go with the acoustic skronking , really enjoyed this, though sometimes I'll admit that Mr Haino leaves me mystified by something I absolutely loved a month before Nijiuma - Era Of Sad Wings Keiji Haino again in a friendlier mood, nicely atmospheric Celtic Frost - Monotheist wasn't overly keen on this when it came out, but I'm growing to love it as much as the rest of their output, really must check Tryptykon High Tide - Sea Shanties a lost classic http://www.headheritage.co.uk/unsung/thebookofseth/143 wot a lovely review Cathedral - Statik Magik EP Slade - Alive Robin Trower - Live Invisible Pyramid/Elegy last invisible dog comp of tunes about dead animals, I have promised myself one day I will sit down and listen to all six cds together in order, this time however I did vols 4 & 5 on different days, I AM WEAK Black Tempest - Proxima, wonderful still pleasing my lugs muchly went to see Reg D Hunter as well, he made me larf, which was good as he is a comedian

I've only played the Jane Weaver CD a couple of times so far ( and not under ideal conditions either ) and was seriously impressed with it. Really looking forward to giving it a deep listen later in the week when time's not so pressing. Same goes for the mix CD too. Er, the only other record i've got of hers is a single from the late 90's ( We Are Modern ), gotta say she's really developed as an artist since then so must trawl through her back catalogue to see if there are any more gems to be had.

PLATOON – Magic Lantern A big thank you to the person who sent me this. Only played it once so far but it really impressed me. I feel sure I’m gonna enjoy this one a lot. THE GLARE – McAlmont & Nyman The opening track where DM sings the same repeated phrase over a fairly typical bit of MN arranging, sounds bizarrely like latter-day Sparks. Quite enjoyable, although the lengthy Nyman instrumental at the end sounded unusually drab. IT’S ONLY ROCK'N'ROLL – Rolling Stones The title track that is the best T.Rex single that Marc Bolan never wrote. Of course, he repaid the compliment a few years later with a Stones riff on Laser Love. Ian B extolled the virtues of the basslines on Fingerprint File the other week – it sure is a great track.BTW is that Wyman or Taylor who is also credited with bass? And whilst I’m not really one for 70’s guitar solos these days I love the fretwork on Time Waits For No-one. EMPIRES & DANCE – Simple Minds A reminder of the time when Simple Minds sounded like the future, well except on Constantinople when they still sounded like Magazine. Still sounds really good! MIDNIGHT MASSIERA – V/A Bonkers stuff! Love the Space Woman track! HOUSE OF BINARY – Wisdom Of Harry Quite an interesting this one from the former Weather Prophet, Pete Astor. ALSO... VOICE OF AMERICA – Cabaret Voltaire THE SINGLES 86-98 – Depeche Mode NO REST – Christy & Emily THERE IS LOVE IN YOU – Four Tet HONEYSKY – Guitar FIN BEGIN – Lazycame PISSING ON BONFIRES – Meursault S/T – The Smiths THE SLIDER RECORDINGS – T.Rex INDEPENDENTS 2005 – V/A LIVERPOOL SOUND CITY 2009 – V/A VOYAGE (FRENCH MODERN PSYCHEDELIC MUSIC) - V/A

Fela Kuti Black president:the Best Best of disc 1. The same disc as was played on glengad beach last weekend as people tried to expose the illegal pipe Shell lay. Sounded pretty great through the cycle caravan's bike trailer P.A. & does on my stereo too. some photos of that beach here http://www.indymedia.ie/article/96911?search_text=solidarity+camp Listening to the intense use of repetition in the music here (while being conscious that these are shorter edits) I'm wondering if anybands consciously picked up on that from this source. The Band s/t Really like the 1st 2 records by these but don't tend to play them overmuch. Jimmy Scott compilation of an unreleased '72 lp and its released successor. Extremely moving material that sounds like a female torch singer with extra maudlin. glad I discovered this last year. V.D.G.G. The Least We Could Do Is Wave Another disc I've been neglecting. Found this pretty moving too. Bass is pretty prominent so odd that it's gone by next lp. & some lovely intricate melody work in places. Must complete my collection of the remasters. 13th floor Elevators Psychedelic Sounds 3eyed men stereo great diosc by great band. I think I always tended to prefer Easter everywhere but this sounds great like this. Gal costa s/t the more psychedelic 2nd lp. Pretty 'kin great methinks. Magazine The Correct Use of Soap yet another lp I keep neglecting but was around my cd player so got onto the 3 changer for several days. really enjoyed it, so wondering why I keep neglecting it. Ornette Coleman This Is Our Music band look great on cover, music is great inside but doesn't get played overmuch. Was trying to complete my Ornette 50s/60s collection over last couple of years. Still got a few to get. Pink Floyd Piper box disc3. Bunged this on as I neared completion of the Rob Chapman book A Very irregular Head. Very glad I did, had to keep repeating Apples & Oranges. Very odd stuff shame Scream Thy Last scream & Vegetable Man aren't on here but pretty interesting stuff nonetheless. Again should listen to more Barrett. several other biots and pieces. Tam Lin by Fairport converntion keeps reappearing on my walkman so do Panther Burns, The Gun Club & The Birthday Party. great. loads more which I can't think of offhand. Stevo

The other one of hers I've got is Cherlokalate, which is also on FK, but which kinda got a shrug from me at the time. I'll dig it out tonight and let you know if it's worth a punt, mate.

Anne Briggs - Anne Briggs. Being an A. Briggs myself, it's great to have such an influential singer as a near namesake. Pink Floyd - A Saucerful Of Secrets. Playing this again made me appreciate what an unsung songwriter Richard Wright was. Fairport Convention - Unhalfbricking. Contains definitive versions of several of Dylan's Basement Tape demos. Spring - Spring (aka American Spring). Formerly The Honeys, I've been after an original vinyl copy of this wonderful Brian Wilson-produced LP for ages, and finally got a nice US pressing at a very low price; 'Sweet Mountain' is the great lost mystical Brian Wilson composition. Bobby Gentry - Ode To Billie Joe. Her debut album; it brilliantly reverses the law of diminishing returns by placing the title track at the end, making the handful of other songs in the same vein feel like teasers rather than (admittedly great) carbon copies. Randy Newman - Sail Away. Bought for 50p at a car boot sale, I'd always been put off buying this album because it features 'You Can Leave Your Hat On'. I should have known that Mr Newman's version would be far more queasily palatable than Tom Jones horrible rendition.

Cheers, i'll look forward to reading your opinion. BTW, thanks for posting last week about the mix CD ( which i didn't know about ), it certainly wasn't difficult to spend £20 on the website to get the free copy ! Hmm, as it's 10 AM now i'm sure the neighbours won't mind if i take the opportunity to play and crank up The Fallen By Watch Bird, tough titty if they do TBH :-)
