Danielle Dax - The Jesus Egg That Wept (Warped Gothic Post-Punk Pop)

Cardiacs - Sing to God (Pronk)

Arne Nordheim - Electric (Alien Norwegian Electro-Acoustic Music- he died a few days ago)

V.A. - African Scream Contest (Wah-Wah Funk Fest!)

John Zorn - The Circle Maker (Low-Key Chamber Jazz/Klezmer)

Pixies - Doolittle (Still Perfect Surf-Punk)

Sly & The Family Stone - Small Talk (Soul-Funk LP that gets an undeserved bad rap)

Greg Ashley - Medicine Fuck Dream (Lo-Fi Psychy Singer-Songwriter Stuff)

Lars Hollmer - SOLA/Fran Natt Idag/Andetag (Addictive Swedish accordian-driven weirdness from ex-Sammla Mammas Manna member)

Steaming Coils - Breaded/Unfinished (Brilliant and catchy psyche-rock from Brad Laner and Co. All online for free: Breaded and unfinished)

The Red Army Choir (I woke up on my boat this morning to a conversation that went something like this:

Woman: "Charles, I think you put the flag up upside down."

Charles: "You might be right."

Woman: "Isn't it bad luck having the England flag upside down?"

Charles: "Yeah, it is pretty dodgy...but it'll take me half an hour to get it down again!"

Woman: "I think you should. It could be bad luck for the team."

Charles: "Why don't you do it?"

Woman: "I would if I knew how."

This went on for another ten minutes or so. I was tempted to ask them how they even knew it was upside down considering it's bloody symmetrical, but instead I played this compilation of Communist anthems by the Russian army at full volume).

EDIT: I just realised boat flags are different than regular flags. Still a silly conversation, if you ask me.

great album, especially the title track which is very similar to early Hush Arbors. Do you have the sister album The Birdtree, I didn't buy that one at the time, probably hopelessly out of print by now though.

Ludovico Einaudi - various bits streamed whilst studying

Max Richter - various bits streamed whilst studying

65daysofstatic - Really enjoy this stuff, kinda mogwai on a bit of speed vs aphex twin (though not as good). Saw 65days live a few weeks ago and the wall of noise effect was brilliant, intense, moody and for a band that my daughter (linkin park, slipknot etc fan)introduced me to was well impressive. The diff between this gig and Cope in Nottingham, about twice as many people at 65days and were pretty much the oldest.

only really come across this guy in a duet with a Malian Kora player.
i have an hour long Italian tv concert by the pair that's pretty sublime. I take it from that that Ludovico is playing around with the edges of Western Classical music?

Yeah, think his previous stuff is kinda mainstream contemporary classical. Sometimes I find it a bit anaemic, but its good for the studies cos of that. There's some great emotionally expressive stuff amongst his back catalogue, as well as a little too MOR it can be a bit depressing too (I guess that's when am trying to avoid that mood!)

'fraid I don't have it, but I remember reading somewhere at the time it came out that it was like a more melodic version of Ivytree. I think I'd spent all my money on a bunch of those Jewelled Antler releases and all the other brilliant free folk that was coming out at the time, so I just didn't have the funds. You're right as well- impossible to find Birdtree for sale online. Hmmph.
