Oh ok. Not a big fan of Madcap or Oar, other than the first track, but have some Caetano Velose, Gilberto Gil records. I'll put the band back on my list of untouched catalogues to roam this summer. Thanks.

Oh, I thought it was a Cale's release! Of course I know Arnaldo's Loki!!! And by the way, have you seen the recent documentary about Arnaldo's life called Loki? Great stuff! And a great album too, of course!

Loki is a very fine album! Loki is not a portuguese word! It doesn't show up in any portuguese dictionary. But it's a kind of neologism that mean Louco (the portuguese word for Crazy). The funny thing is that on the art cover of the record we can read Arnaldo Loki? Baptista, because some people at the time used to say that he was Fried (if you know what I mean) ;-) So, the implicit "question" of the title (Arnaldo Loki? Baptista) is a thing to consider while listening to the record. The artcover: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_RkqAWHle5XE/StneBpa8JmI/AAAAAAAAAMk/S6dH60HvIfU/s400/photo+loki.jpg The trailer of the documentary called Loki: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izGLQUGZZMs (you must know portuguese to understand the trailer, in parts) There's a track in the record called Cê Tá Pensando Que Eu Sou Loki? (Do You Think I'm Crazy?) that you can get it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=EtBNhIAiO28&feature=related

You must understant the words, dude. That does the diference, you know... Loki is one of the most important albuns of the Tropicalia period. You are absolutely right about Rita's solo albums, IMHO.

Just listening to the Lou Reed "American Poet" live set from 72. Genius performance. Must have been one of his most positive periods coming out of the studio having made "Transformer" and the album just out, knowing the elusive hit lp was as good as in the bag with at least four sure-fire contendors for radio play. I far prefer this to the RnR Animal / Live sets or the 73/74 tour bootlegs as it retains more of the VU sound. It's almost as good as 69 Live. Almost.
