Released in 1965 UK on Columbia; suppose to be Holy Modal Rounders, 13th Floor Elevator acid folk jugband. Very rare, not on cd. Has anyone ever heard this? Is it any good?

My Dad was in the legendary Jubilee Lovelies! He played the mouth organ and yes they are hot sh*t! At least that's what he tells me. He still drags the old LP's out at xmas. Small world.

What else does he say? Where did they play? Why did they stop?

My dad was in Vernon Haddocks Jubilee Lovelies too! - he played washboard. They shared a manager with Donovan apparently!

Welcome Little Bear. Seems there is a possibility with Liam V above of a Sons Of Jubilee Lovelies band. What happened to the band? What do they sound like? Jugband? Freakbeat?

They Hailed from around Leigh on Sea/Southend on Sea. First and only eponymous LP 1965. I thinks they split a year or so later. They used to play in the Ship and the Smack in old Leigh. As for sound, I really tried digging them, but struggle. Kind of skiffle gone mad really. Swannie whistle is prevalent, banjo and guitars. Someone must have an mp3 turntable somewhere, it really can't be that long before we hear the sound again! As for a sons of lovelies, now there's an idea!!

Third son-of-a-jubilee-lovelie here. Breaking out like the proverbial rash. Thought I'd choose a user name that'd give you a clue. We ought to form a neo-skiffle band, but to be true to the spirit of VHJL it would have to involve drinking the roughest possible scrumpy and locking fellow band members in the studio overnight. I believe your father also occasionally blew into the openings of ceramic containers in his capacity as a 'jug player'?
