I don't know, that list is missing lots of important stuff. Definitely Il Balleto di Bronzo's Ys, Pierrot Lunaire's Gudrun, and Picchio dal Pozzo's self-titled album are must hears, and all at least somewhat avant. (I'm guessing that's what's preferred in this conversation, not just straightforward prog.) I'm really surprised Banco aren't on there either. They're not my favorites but their first three albums usually rank among the top 10 sympho-prog albums of any country. I'm sure there's more avant-stuff out there connected to the prog scene (and I know more that's not) but I can't think of it right now. The Nurse With Wound list might be a place to start.

There was another list I tried looking for. Had all those on . But when I went over to yahoo lists I couldn't get any of the search engines to work. Did mean to go back and try again, thinking it was a temporary problem. Then forgot about it. Stevo

I guess it depends on what you think is prog and what you think is not. It's usually quite different for everyone. I tend to lump more, rather than less, under the broad heading of prog. However if you just are after stuff that isn't 'typically' prog then you may get some joy out of these, off the top of my head - Elektriktus - Electronic Mind Waves The Feed-Back - same Telaio Magnetico - Live 1975 Franco Battiato - Fetus; Pollution; Clic; Sulle Corde di Aries Antonius Rex - Neque Semper Arcum Tendit Rex There's a huge amount of Italian stuff from the 70's I think is great, but most of it is probably too proggy to suggest here.

And of course the first three Sensation's Fix albums - Fragments of Light, Portable Madness, and Finest Finger, for those after some space rock.

achuma wrote: Franco Battiato - Sulle Corde di Aries I completely forgot about this one when I posted above. I'm not a fan of his other work I've heard but this is just beautiful stuff in the vein of Terry Riley and the Third Ear Band. That also made me recall the sole Kosmische Musik label album not from Germany: Roberto Cacciapaglia - Sonanze I think if you enlarged the category to include soundtracks and avant-garde classical (like Cope does for Japan) there'd be enough for a book on the subject in line with KRS and JRS.
