little known fact about mark russell: his dad used to be a vicar in richmond, london, but gave up the cloth to go into business with another vicar. they thought they'd invented a shopping trolley that exclipsed all other shopping trollies. don't think it ever took off... shame about the show, twas truly a belter... hopefully it'll get taken up elsewhere....

You know about Resonance FM? They've got a programme there on Wed night's called 'Where's the skill in that?, which does the same thing. They deserved their BBC slot, but some wank said no. If you check to link I posted, they were never given the go ahead to use then title 'Mixing It'. Bloody disgraceful! x

Y'know what, Classical music deserves it's own plaform of course it does. But if you ever tune into R3 at any time during the day or evening it's like the station's on bloody autopilot! The Xmas before last was dedicated to Bach for a whole week! All else was scrapped, and that's the radio equivalent to 'cheap telly' ('cheap radio' then I suppose!). x

...its a real shame for anyone involved in what they say 'music that falls between the cracks etc'. I got some airplay on Mixing it a few years back and was hoping to send new CDs to them but then found out about this. At least they're still on the air and the people who listened to them when they were on the beeb will hopefully tune in to Resonance. Unfortunately most marginal experimental music that doesn't fit into any genre is unsupported, non distributed and not given much attention in the UK. 8)

Pretty disgraceful way to treat a show that's been on air that long. Not to mention the way they treated listeners - fancy not allowing the presenters to talk about it ending. Grrrr.

Official: BBC is too upmarket Populist shows are promised as channel bids to shake off charges of elitism. For fuck sake. http://observer.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,2047513,00.html

Shaking off elitism, or just plain old dumbing down? You decide...
