Pretty much anything by John Cougar Mellencamp can give me sharp stabbing headaches.

And soul singers like Mariah Carey and so on who have reduced soul to an octave-workout competion, GAWD, what is that. Nobody can just sing anymore, you have to flutter and twitter your way thru every WORD IN THE SONG!!

But what really ...makes.. me mad.....
are when you hear the raw, regional folk sound from some part of the world hijacked, flown to New York, stuffed into a suit, and regurgitated by people who mistakenly think that by cleaning it up and playing synthesizers over it that something great is happening. I'm not against the basic idea, but it seems a lot of western artists hear something from outside their culture they like, and right away are appropriating some elements from it into a dance track.
It's just so out of context to hear sharecropper laments being used as loops in some kitschy rave tune.
