I put a similar thread a couple of years ago here on HH and it was funny to now the answers. There are so many new people here that I think it's time to give another round about the subject... (for the "New" people and the "Old" people too, of course) Mine was Blondie - Eat to the Beat - and my life changed ! ;-) |

First single - The Monkees ~ Last Train to Clarkesville First Album - The Lemon Pipers ~ (Title not remembered) In my defence I later swapped the Lemon Pipers album with someone at school for Safe As Milk, so it worked out well in the end :-/

After the 'Noddy' flexidisc my mum got me from sending tokens collected from Kelloggs Ricicles boxes, it was the single 'Jeepster', by T.REX. The first album was 'Electric Warrior', also by T.REX. These initial purchases with my own pocket money and earnings from a bread round proved a very difficult act to follow. In fact, despite my now massive collection, I don't think either have actually been bettered!

First records I remember being 'mine' as opposed to my parent's were 4 albums of Johnny Morris reading the Rev. Awdry series of train stories (Thomas The Tank Engine etc) I had access to my dad's records but the first records I recall buying with my own monies was an AC/DC single - High Voltage I think, (from a series of 7" eps that were on sale in Our Price in a range called the metal box), Motorheads Golden Years EP and a Saxon's Wheel's of Steel single. First albums were the Axe Attack Vol. 1 metal compilation, Metal For Mutha's Vol 1 and Iron Maiden's classic debut (which still rules!)

My first lp was High Voltage - AC/DC, I can't remember my first single but I wish it was Johnny Morris' "It's a dogs life", it was my older brothers' copy and he wouldn't let me have it!!
