Merrick says “only the nuttiest nutters deny the evidence of climate change”. Well, according to a recent edition of Panorama I saw last week, while this is considered a *serious* problem in most parts of the world (not any more in the two tiny Pacific islands which have already disappeared under the rising sea levels), the States still doubts the overwhelming scientific evidence (while *some* dodgy scientific anti-greenhouse effect is swallowed in a craze of obese eco-bigotry) due to huge financial pressure from big oil and coal corporations and incredibly vicious television propaganda (tobacco-industrialist gimmicks ring a bell), which really made me smile when I saw its naïve capitalist-dream charm. Australia, Canada and the U.S. are the worst polluters per head but their political reactions turn into aggressive and incoherent behaviour once their…ho hum, way-of-life is criticized. Way of Death, rather. Short-term profit crap rhetoric.

Will it be the ignorant redneck or the grinning stiffneck in the White House tomorrow? Whatever happens, although carbon emissions were agreed to be reduced by 5% in Kyoto years ago (and… any progress?) , the truth is, according to the scientists, that the reduction should be 50% instead, in order for the consequences not to be disastrous. Meanwhile, emissions are increasing, not decreasing. Everything is not enough. Who is the anti-life Fun-da-men-ta-list these days?

I'm back to the Mother Mud so I’ll sign off with a limerick:

There once was a man from Devizes,
Whose balls were of two different sizes.
One ball was small
And no use at all,
But the other was big and won prizes.

“Without receiving a license, without showing essential minimum requirements and knowledge of the forest, a person with a fat wallet simply buys a forest plot. Then the newly-fledged owner behaves like a barbarian in the woods."
