Yeah I can see the conspiracy theorist thing coming out there, but regardless of whether you agree or not my opinion doesn't require your judgement. I agree with Apple's viewpoint and as you've not come up with anything credible to change that view I'll stick to what that viewpoint.

All credible reports that have not had there origin from Apple itself are reporting that Apple won't assist in this 'particular' investigation.
This is about one 'particular' investigation at the moment.
It's about the FBI asking Apple to unlock this particular phone...not have them deliver a 'back door' decription. Of course Apple itself can do that, apparently thats ok....
Again, there are numerous pending cases just in the US alone that are being stymied over locked cell phones.
Child pornography rings cases in paricular.
Where's Apple there?
{but this is all just "conspiricy theory" anyway}
Anyway...it's gonna happen all the same. Just a matter of time.

I think it's a bit of a game going on here for the public. The authorities want to show they are doing something and Apple want to show how secure their products are. I'm sure privately they are co operating but they don't want the bad guys to know.

I'd like to think that a guy with Gates position within the industry would be as informed as anyone else regarding the facts of this case as it currently stands.
This is not to say that he is the end all point of view...just another reasoned voice.
At any rate...so much for the "conspiracy theory" point of view.

We are all being watched. Pretty much everything you do is being monitored, if you live in a city. An an invasion of privacy? Yes. For security reasons - a total waste of time. Shit happens in even the most monitored of places. We become oblivious to them. They are not effective in deterring crime. Windows 10 monitors just about everything. That's why it was so cheap Microsoft ARE in league with ALL countries.
The US are amateurs when it comes to spying.
Spys are not obvious. I do not fear the camera. A camera has only one eye and no judgement. The people who monitor have many eyes, and those are the people who make diverse decisions whom we should fear.
Why bother having spys?
