You'd want to laugh if it wasn't for the fact that a sizable number of people seem to be lapping all this stuff up. I had a long conversation with a colleague yesterday about the voting in france for the mad far right party (I've seen her around for years and didn't even realise she was french, we exchanged more words yesterday than collectively ever). One can only hope these idiots are a kick up the backside to all the people who didn't vote at all (turnout was really low), that they get out and mark their x against anything else at all next time. Also you can hope that the results in france were a bit like our UKIP and although there's a lot of noise it doesn't come to much in the end. Hopefully. (cue ukip defenders)

I don't understand your comment about painting myself into a corner, but the point I was making was that if even democrat voters believe that Muslims are all inherently dangerous, the situation is pretty dire. The poll below (I've no idea how reliable Bloomberg polls are, so it might be nonsense for all I know) indicates that 18% of democrat voters are now supporting Trump's proposed ban on Muslims entering the US, which was the point I was making above. Trump won't be there at the finish line. Believe what you like, he dose'nt represent Americans in general and he does'nt speak for me. If Trump did'nt exist there would still be moral outrage aplenty on a worldwide scale over the terrorist acts perpetrated as of late. What part of there using 10 year old children to carry out executions don't you understand? This 'problem' will only find some kind of resolution through a united coalition front. I remember him...i can't recall any foreign relations figure head at all that represents the Muslim position in this world at this time. I don't feel good thinking this, having been brought up a hard core pacifist but I reckon one shouldn't officially declare war on terrorism. Instead, if force has to be applied, maybe it should be clandestine, under cover, even using the dreaded drones and such. Unfortunately such an action will have the usual fuck ups, civilian casualties and won't win the politicians any warmongering votes.
