They're isolated incidents in the middle east as well. Just really well-publicised ones, as they're the hot topic of the day; a guaranteed sell.

It seems to be a habit of American newsvendors to only show the latest shining surface of an event and act as if there's no etymology, no build-up. This means you're presented with a parade of new villains, and you're never properly told how they came about, just that they are utterly villainous and that's all you need to know. America's collective amnesia can have good sides- you elected a black president fifty years after randomly lynching black citizens, which England, with its antiquated and dusty old rituals, would never do- but it also means you do not build any connections between former events instigated at your behest and those of the present. Y'all armed, trained and brought together these sonsovbitches, and now you want to indiscriminately kill 'em all, right before rinsing and washing and repeating. We great moral arbiters of the world may not behead, but we do murder civilians en masse every other way we can, because it's profitable to keep the war machine chugging. At least those dogmatic atavists out there in the cradle of civilisation have some misguided sense of morality (however warped it may be) at the root of their atrocities. We're killing solely in the name of monetary gain.

You wake the fuck up, Jack. Your channels and your papers are softening you up for forthcoming escalations, and you're lapping up every line you read and hear. This is a big world, and there's something sordid at the heart of man we're only very slowly beginning to overcome. Atrocity is being committed on all sides (though again, I do firmly believe whoever's doing the most killin' is likely the most culpable, and that's us, yo), and the meadya can pick and choose from those atrocities to paint any country, or any peoples, any colour they please. And they do. Right now their ire is not being directed at the conglomerates who rule and ruin this world, and who have our politicians in their pockets. That may have something to do with the fact that cats like Murdoch have a huge amount invested in the weapons industry, and if his rags and stations sell a certain narrative, other stations will start to tell the same tales by osmosis. I'm not saying everyone has a crystal clear conscience out in the middle east, but that, like us, the horrible things are being done by a loudmouthed, pushy, bossy, over-assertive minority, and the rest of the population, who are the ones who tend to field the bombs and bullets we rain down on them, are kept completely in the dark, as they spend their free hours making ends meet.

"My people" do not walk into a crowded shopping center to blow themselves and as many people as possible up. "my people" do not approve of kidnapping children for the purpose of fucking them or selling them to someone who will fuck them. do not confuse warfare with terror attacks they are not one and the same. I do not run my government and don't agree with all there policies but I know they don't Condon those types of acts nor does the military as a whole, which cant be said for extremist Islam.
