If I recall correctly I was more commenting on the hpocrisy of doing and saying popular themes whilst actually doing the complete opposite.

Ah thanks, didn't know about that, but then never looked. I think there's a huge difference here, and I don't think it's fair to Leonardo to comapre him to brand. What he's got there is a fully formed organisation, which is a huge amount of difference to throwing a couple of quid in the charity tin. For him to set all that up he's obviously very concerned about it to set that up. brand's done nothing so don't really think it's fair to compere there. I did mention princes William and Harry, which I think would be a more appropriate comparison

I wasn't making an exact comparison. It's a matter of degrees, and yes, in the respect stakes Di Caprio is way ahead. As far as Brand goes, I'm cautiously behind him. However, the litmus test for me will be whether he actually does put his fortune where his mouth is and personally fund these community projects.

Brand's said continuously that he's happy paying higher taxes, and that the rich should be forced to pay taxes as high as they did in the Socialist '60s and the high-earning French do now. He's not at all happy that those taxes also fund mindless holy wars, and things like intentionally sloppy NHS-management as a means to justify its disbandment, but he still thinks taxing the rich, if not capping their income entirely, is the thing to do. As wealth accumulates more wealth, and once you've got a certain amount of it you just end up buying more expensive equivalents of the same shit everyone else gets, I'm all for income walls. I think money becomes much less abstract and more vital when you consider that £100 could save a person's life. If that's the case then billionaires are, in a way, genocidalists, with ten million lives on their back per billion.

I would love to say he will, but looking at his track record I can't see it happening, which is one of many reasons why I see him as a hypocrite, he's too attached to his millions to really be genuine. It's hard to take someone who bashes capitalism seriously when they're hobnobbing so publically with those that he's apparently against

It's a 'watch this space' job I reckon.

How much of that is all talk though? His dealings with schemes like that run by Ingenious media, which is helping him fund his film have provided him and many of his friends and backers avoid millions in tax! Apologies for the daily mail link, but was the first one I clicked on of many http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2483929/Russell-Brands-unsocialist-15m-business-empire.html
