It's a totally horrible news item from this Xmas that I'm sure you've all read about by now out in Los Angeles. You may or may not of heard of another guy down in Houston just last week who went on a shooting spree from his car on a Houston highway.

Both guys had clean records up until the event. (the guy from Houston had some pain killer abuse issues). The horrific planning and execution of the guy in L.A.'s attack is beyond belief... and it seems he planned on getting away. The guy from Houston seemed more a case of being a 'loud' suicide.

What is it with these guys? What is this need they have to take the rest of the world down with them? Do they think it'll bring them honor? Is it a way of not being alone in the self destruction? Is it somehow psychologically connected to the same twisted aim of the ancient royal burials where a monarch would have living slaves entombed with him? I feel empathy for most suicides... I feel intense loathing of people who are so egocentric that they have to take their loved ones, or strangers, with them, out of their infantile need to be the center of the fucking universe.

It's probably a good thing they both killed themselves.. In the case of the L.A. guy, the public outcry for his head would have been deafening if he'd been captured alive. All that's left is the grief and the shock.

This is why I generally steer clear of the new 'brand' of horror movies (Saw, Hostel, etc.)... there's already enough sadism and murder and psychosis in the world.
