Yeah ... good point there the Japanese were something else. The fact that it took TWO nukes before they surrendered says something about their fanatiscism. although I read somewhere that more people died in Dresden than Hiroshima - we did that one. Mind you I think the feeling in Britain at the time was that the Nazis had it comming so 'wipe em off the map'. Its easy for us to condemn sitting here in the comefortable 21st century. - still bloody awful innit - war. Makes you wish our glorious leader had though a bit about the consequences of his actions.

Totally agreed, and someone should make Phony B-liar responsible for his actions. The sad thing is that now we have to see it through to the end or there'll be anarchy and massive more bloodshed - which we'll have been directly the cause of.

Not quite, this grotesque media would have you believe that. There are some good things going on, and some form of democracy - albeit not the best. The thing is that the whole fucking lot would come apart at the seams if we just abandoned it now. There may little security now, but pull all the troops now and there will be incredible bloodshed. No, because of Tony/GWB we now have a 'duty of care' to the largest body of Iraqi's. Horrendous isn't it? What a mess we've created, but the other thing is that the area has become the focal point, gathering ground and compost for every fanatical nut-case that can get over there.

I agree, but now its still a battleground. Suni killing Shia, Shia chucking their lot in with the US. Foreign fighters comming in. The trouble is that once again American military Intelligence has proved to be a misnoma. Had they done their homework they would have seen the religious, ethnic and tribal fractures that have existed in Iraq for centuries, they might not have disbanded the Iraqi army & police force - a big mistake.

Yup, we're on common ground here - and just in time, coz I'm off to me 'scratcher'! On a boat just now and have an early start directing ops. S'later!

Just a quick point (I was passing and thought I'd look in). Publicly quoted oil reserves are basically a tissue of lies. I pointed out the reasons - and evidence - for this here: http://www.thesharpener.net/?p=41

Interesting stuff indeed! Well, we'd better figure out how to economically recover the reserves from those unbelievably vast hydrate fields!

Cheers grufty. I shall check your link out :) I've just started reading "The Party's Over" by Richard Heinberg. That, coupled with Jame's Lovelock's piece in The Independent on Monday makes for a very depressing future. Anyone in New Zealand want to adopt a bear? ;)
