Excellent! You'll love it! There have been quite a few threads about visiting Aberdeenshire over the years that might help: http://www.headheritage.co.uk/headtohead/tma/topic/61739/threaded/784286 http://www.headheritage.co.uk/headtohead/tma/topic/24657/threaded/281427/ http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/forum/?thread=45541 And Jane did some blogs of our trip some years ago, based at Rothienorman, just north of Inverurie: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/48959/weblog/hot_stuff_in_aberdeenshire_stonebaked.html http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/48971/weblog/hot_stuff_in_aberdeenshire_fried_brain_overload.html http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/48981/hot_stuff_in_aberdeenshire_the_pleasure_and_the_pain.html Enjoy! love Moth

It's probably already in Moths notes, but Cothiemuir Wood is 'the shit' (as I'm reliably informed the kids say) I also particularly liked Midmar Kirk (Its in a graveyard), Balgorkar, Sunhoney (Cup marks on the recumbent) and the lonely and incomplete Dunnideer, with good views of the hill. Have a good time.

Sunhoney has to be top of anyone's list for the Aberdeenshire area. Just a magical spot IF the sun's out when you really get to appreciate the colour of the stones. Have fun, you're almost spoiled for choice. And if you're up for a not-too-strenuous climb, the view off the top of Tap O'Noth is fabulous.

Hard work. Worth it though. As far as I remember you get a bus from Aberdeen City Centre, towards 'the stanes' and then get a taxi there and back. Easter Aquhorthies are in the middle of nowhere. Nice though. Most people know where it is. Totally desolate, which is cool. It's an amazing circle. http://www.explore-aberdeen.com/things-to-do/sport-and-leisure/stone-circles/
