Last minute opportunity so await any replies with gratitude in advance..thankyou. If you can see the West Coast on the way back. Stunning. It can take weeks though. This guy was a brilliant photographer of all that shit! http://www.oscarmarzaroli.com/home.html

Carol, take advantage. Local knowledge makes so much difference. There's also waaaay more stuff than a single trip can cover. I agree with Evergreen, Cothiemuir is superb. I immensely liked Corrstones, a great candidate for restoration http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/266/corrstones.html Affa bonny.

Aberdeen is one of the most expensive places in the UK to live. If you have money, buy a hoose. If not, just have a look!

Woah. Am even more excited now. The drive up will be amazing enough in itself, from past experience; it'll take about 5 / 6 hours but once I start hitting the hills I'll be happy. I can't wait. Sea, hills, stones....what could be better &.....recumbents! Thankyou everybody.

Take the West Coast route. It's beautiful at this time of year. The borders are rubbish really. Head for the hills! North west of Glasgow. Amazing! The hills don't happen for about 2 hours past Glasgow though. Worth it! I cycled those hills up and down. Absolutely beautiful.

Billy Connolly famously said that Aberdeen is Gaelic for hypothermia! It's fucking freezing! It is actually. Take a coat. Not as windy as Shetland though. There are no trees in Shetland, but we did try to find one. A stump up a big hill. That is one brutal place. It was sunny though! I was out of my mind on dope and speed! Me and James McAvoys mum. Yep - you read that right. Two Cope gigs involved though. A good time we had. Anyway, Aberdeen is nice. If on the east coast, St. Andrews is rather lovely too.

Hope you get a chance to go to Sunhoney farm, it was very overgrown a few months ago and looking very neglected, a few more visitors may encourage the land owner/authorities, to look after it a little better
