Hi folks, Hope all is well here in the land of TMA :-) I was wondering what people think about the best place to go for Summer Solstice sunrise this year? I have some specific criteria though. I'm looking for somewhere that will be a bit lively, with others also attending. A sprinkling of Druids would be fine :-) Also, the following sites are excluded... * Avebury * Stanton Drew * Castlerigg Cheers, Kammer x

You'll get a sprinkling of Druids and plenty of other things there at the Solstice. Assuming you intended to include SH in the excluded list, how about the Rollright Stones? Probably a gathering there I would imagine. Not sure about lively.

Blimey, tis a day of returns today. Lots of nice Cornish places, I wonder if there might be something on at Carwynnen this year?

Try the Nine Ladies at Stanton. It certainly gets lively. :O

An opportunity to have a good look at the stones without too much hassle. I would never go in summer.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm really not sure about Stonehenge. Sounds like it could be mad, and maybe a bit upsetting if people are being disrespectful towards the site. Does anyone know what the tun-out at [[Mitchell's Fold]] is like for SS? K x

Thought you could link to a site page with square brackets. It's been a while so maybe that's changed... or was never a feature.

From the site posts, but not in the forum :) Mitchell's Fold would be a good spot for it, you could climb Corndon if you wanted to escape other people for a bit.

I went way back in the '70s, then a few times in the noughties: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/15383/stonehenge.html Been there, done that, can't see me doing it again, but I'm glad of the experience.
