Do your legs feel funny or tremble when standing in stone circles?
Jan 26, 2015, 23:31
I am doing some research for a television programme on the Merry Maidens and Boscawen-un stone circles in Cornwall. I am looking for anyone who has experienced a strange sensation in their legs (shaking or trembling) when standing in stone circles in the UK (doesn't have to be the ones in Corwall necessarily). If anyone has experienced these kinds of sensations or any other strange sensation I would be extremely interested in hearing from you with a view to taking part in the programme. My email address is; [email protected]. Many thanks! Dominic

Hello Dominic
I experienced the sensation of ‘legs trembling’ at Callanish which was down to the fact it was very cold with a biting wind and my coat wasn’t warm enough. Had the same experience at Avebury once or twice and other stone circles too when I’ve been cold, wet or hungry. I imagine your question is not about being cold and wet though.
I’ve been to Boscawen-un where I did experience a sense of euphoria, no trembling involved, which was down to several factors - the achievement of finding my way there by foot, the bright elemental weather of a sunny April afternoon, the pale moon overhead in daylight. I’ve also had similar experiences at other stone circles such as the Ring of Brodgar and Castlerigg - in all cases there has been sunlight, a warm wind, and a walk involved.
Probably not much help but good luck with your project.

Many thanks for your reply. Yes, the trembling isn't meant to have anything to do with the cold! Best wishes, Dominic

I had the same feeling at Callanish as well whilst watching the sun go down.
That will teach me to wear shorts! :)

I had that sensation at Callanish too, but it was anger at people walking into shot when just about to take pix. When I'm not reliant on outside transport I prefer to visit sites in the evening when others have gone so I can phot and absorb, and, yup, watch the sun go down.

Seriously Dominic, apologies if I sounded dismissive in my other post - what phenomena are you attempting to demonstrate.
There has been discussion in the past about the 'energy' given off by certain types of rock - white quartz being one of them. There is white quartz stone at Boscawen-un. I imagine there are some intensely sensitive individuals out there who can pick up vibrations that others don't experience. Perhaps you could say a bit more about your work - I would be interested.

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply. I am looking for someone who has had the strange sensation of shaking legs or dizziness whilst standing in stone circles. We would like to interview someone on their experiences and also have them come down to Cornwall to do this in situ at the Boscawen-un stone circle to form a part of the television programme.

If you can please explain in a little more detail about what your experiences are/were, or if you happen to know anyone who has had these kinds of unexplainable sensations I would be most interested.

I look forward to hearing from you.

With warm regards,

Dominic Green

You haven't really elaborated on why? your focus is on " the strange sensation of shaking legs or dizziness" when standing within stone circles. With respect you may get a more positive response if you widened the remit to just "experienced strange inexplicable sensations". It sounds as though you are trying to illustrate that someone being enclosed by granite etc could experience some sort of externally induced reaction. I know of someone for example who does experience vibrations which start in the legs when she is in her own home and thinks is susceptible to radio waves from the internet/mobile phones etc. I don't believe there could be any similar possibility within a stone circle but having said that, am sure many people have experienced something that might be described as 'mystical' - or perhaps otherwise described as the transference of what was going on in their minds anyway - onto the stone circle.

I have a few knee tremblers in the back of the cinema when I was much much younger but then that's another story.

If we are talking about feelings outside the normal human senses then I think I am correct in saying most people on this forum do not sit easily with people who claim to have senses/abilities that do not fall into those scientifically recognised to be used by a 'normal' person. And those that do only talk about it if prepared to risk the ridicule of those that don't but who normally leave the forum after a short term and in humiliation.

I am open minded enough to talk about these things but only if the person is able to back up their argument with scientific facts and repeatable experiments to prove what they are saying. What I won't entertain are people who claim to have such abilities but are not willing to undergo such testing and expect sceptics to believe them purely on their say so.

Sorry if this seems like I have a closed mind, but the truth is I do not. A few months back I tried divining at the Rollrights and was totally surprised that it seem to more or less work. However, the reason for this could easily have been slight muscle movements as much as some sort of weird phenomenon going on. Unfortunately the conditions were such that I could not prove anything one way or the other and therefore I still remain a sceptic but one who is will to change their mind given the proof required.

:)

Scubi

Scubi , that is pretty much what most people who have had a shot at dowsing experience , including scpetics . The rods/pendulums do move and may even move in the same way at the same spot multiple times .
There is no need to even attempt to move the rods , they will move with no intention or effort .What becomes interesting is the explanation for the movement of the rods and resulting claims .
