Have you ever noticed an Eastern facing arc there at all, by any chance ?

I couldn't see one in the pics.

I have just had a look through Jeremy Butler's '
"Dartmoor Atlas Of Antiquities" volume 2 The North which covers Fernworthy and there are no arcs shown or mentioned anywhere. His maps and drawings were taken from aerial photographs he took over many years. If you have seen something resembling an arc in the area it may just be the remains of the wall of a roundhouse. There are quite a few scattered around the area , including below the water of the reservoir. These are visible in times of drought.

I'm so uncool I went round a sabather's house as a surveyor and asked his very posh wife what the gold disks and massive recording studio in the loft were all about. "My husband's a musician".

This arc of stones, they'd point S-East not East I reckon.

BTW I could only do Dad Dancing when I was 15. Very sad.

Which Sabbather was that then?

This imaginary arc of SE facing, E facing, W facing non-existant stones.. are they from Preseli? (Thank you very much)

Actually, having researched it http://www.knowhere.co.uk/Kidderminster/Worcestershire/Midlands/info/celebsI think it may have been Glen Tipton of Judas Priest. Does that make a difference?!

I imagine so. You're welcome.

I look forward to hearing how you propose such (imaginary) stones could have got to Fernworthy from Preseli. I would expect to hear you convincingly, and with evidence, discount the giant tortoise.

Thought so, you're an evidence junky. If it was left to the likes of you we wouldn't even know that Avebury was erected by Zog.

The ice carried them to within a few miles of Fernworthy, dumped them up by the Greywethers, along with some squashed welsh frogs, from which they made an alcoholic beverage to see them through dragging the stones to Fernworthy and putting them up in an east facing arc.

This is why it is sometimes referred to as Froggymead.

The giant tortoise didn't appear til the late bronze age. This is basic stuff SC, don't waste my time.

Merry Christmas.
