The Great Wall of China: The Hidden Story. 8pm CH4 Sunday. Looking at the adverts they are using drones. More and more are being used and becoming the 'in thing' for archaeology it would seem these days! Love 'em!

Have to be careful though, there are some rules out there... "The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) does have specific rules on flying drones, or unmanned aircraft, that limit where the owner can fly the craft. "Drones cannot be flown over or within 150m of any congested area, over or within 150m of an organised open-air crowd of more than 1,000 people, within 50m of any vessel, vehicle or structure which is not under the control of the person in charge of the aircraft or within 50m of any person except during take-off. The person in charge of the aircraft must also maintain direct, unaided visual contact with the device in order to monitor its flight-path and avoid possible collisions with other aircraft as well as people and buildings." http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/drones-might-must-have-christmas-present-8167937

Is it powered by a rubber band or candle power? :-)

It was probably made in China as well :-) http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/6-axis-mini-quadcopter-drone-with-camera-p50289.htm?referer=PLA&utm_source=google%2Bproducts&utm_medium=comparison&utm_campaign=google%2Bproducts¤cy=1&gclid=Cj0KEQiA7tCjBRDulMny5rfM0dkBEiQA7fcshUZOws9xjpMv8GUxd26DPI64Q-7VgJnWLv32Zq6chbUaAh4I8P8HAQ

Bit worrying the 'intuitive' bit, what does that mean?

Bit worrying the 'intuitive' bit, what does that mean? We'd have to ask Scubi who's probably just spluttered coffee all over his keyboard on seeing that advert. At least I know what LS is having for Christmas now ;-)

40 quid? That's kind of tempting, but it can't be up to that much really for that price, can it?

Reading around, drones are the 'in toy' this Christmas. As you say, kind of tempting and could lead to the purchase of a more expensive one later. Rather like buying a cheap MD for starters I would imagine before the real McCoy (rushes to wash mouth out) Hmmm, my five acre field would be a good testing ground (for both?) :-)
