So apart from the two obvious biggies, what's worth seeing then? Not averse to the odd bit of medieval action either.

If so, you MUST visit Swinside (Sunkenkirk). Thats an order. :) Little Meg is a lovely site (Keep an eye out for the rock art) Druids Circle at Ulverston, Gamelands, The Cockpit, Mayburgh, Copt Howe, White Moss, Blakeley Raise, Greycroft.

The cup marked rock outcrop in Grasmere (right next to the car park) is well worth a look. Grasmere itself (and surrounding area) is very pretty although it is a 'tourist trap'.

Visited Grasmere briefly last year and remembered the cup mark in the car park, but failed to find it! Turns out I was looking in the wrong car park, couldn't get coverage on my phone to check out the location and was in a bit of a rush at the time :) One for next time. Yes, pretty place but definitely a bit of a tourist trap. I stayed in a cottage just outside Hawkshead on that holiday, which was really lovely. Mustard - Haven't been myself but the Langdale axe factory looks like it'd be fun if you fancy a bit of a climb!

Oooh - and The Giants Graves. (all of 'em) I had a phenomenally spooky time at the Cairn circle. My advice is not to go in fog with a hangover.

It was 8 years ago last time I did it, I was a touch stoned and got lost on the way up, so my timings aren't perfect ;)

Do you set off from the pub in the valley, further down from Copt Howe? I had lunch there once, good place! ;) (The pub, not Copt Howe, although I'm sure lunch there is good too)

Looking at the orange map I think I parked at one of the carparks about NY294064. I went and had a look at Copt Howe before going up the hill.
