A local laird lost his infant son after an illness and blamed the local witch for cursing him, she lived by Loch Beanie and was chased up the hill, when she came to the stone, she transformed into a snake and slid into the heart of the stone through an opening, the enraged laird hacked at the stone with his claymore leaving marks all over it.
