Thank you for the new ideas - as far as I know it has been at least ten years that overnight parking has been allowed, ill look into it further. We are only parking their overnight on festival times and full moons at the moment because we want to come to an agreement with the Parish Council, it would be better if we could all work together on this point.

Regards

Dates at avebury.
Nov 10, 2003, 10:52
Mik,
This is the sort of problems with trying to establish fixed dates for parking here.
I noticed the BDO have posted this
>Caer Abiri Gorsedd and dates
------------------------------------------
Greywolf proposed that the BDO should host gatherings of the Gorsedd of Bards of Caer Abiri at Avebury on the nearest Saturday to the four festivals of Candlemas, May Day, Lammas and Hallowe'en by the old Julian calendar. The provisional dates are as follows: -

Hallowe'en 2003 November 8th
Candlemas 2004 February 7th
May Day 2004 May 9th
Lammas 2004 August 7th
----------------------------
http://www.awenlist.org/index.php

which is a week After the tradtional dates for these festivals.

I love that!!! :-)

Mind you, as Easter is the 1st Sunday, after the 1st full moon after the vernal equinox, I suppose it's ok.

The subjective object.

"I basically said that the stones are not a temple but a tourist attraction."

To a tourist, yes. To the wandering chronicler, yes and no, to the heathen finding a personal 'resonance', no.

What I'm saying is, it's no-ones 'right' to proclaim Avebury as anything so specific, it's a legacy to all of us, and means different things to different people, none worth any less than an other.

Although it's churlish to imagine that it's not more important to You, I, Mr Cope, or Freeavebury than it is to that bunch who drove by and shouted 'hippies' out of the window before burning serious rubber.

There seem to be fundamentalists on all sides!

If the carpark shuts at 4.30 surely you would want to get the shops on your side which presumably shut at 5.30.That's an hour of lost punters.

how to win friends and influence people?

Is that your attempt to win friends and influence people?

As we've said before, please don't assume you know anything about us just from a few posts and a few silly nicknames.
