I could lash up a quick drawing, but that will have to wait because I need to go out soon. So here is another go at desribing the method:

We make a triangle, one side of which is the stone. A pole resting on the bottom of the stone projects up into the air at say 30 degrees from horizontal. A rope tied from the top of the stone to the far end of the pole completes the triangle. Now a weight is lifted up and fastened to the far end of the pole. As we lower the wieght back down it raises the monolith.

You can rattle off artwork in minutes that would take me weeks and still not be as good. I can calculate forces is a similar speedy fashion. It's not even university stuff, just basic A-level trigonometry that's easy if you have the right inclination (pun intended) ;^)
