Dunno much about trains and bikes – I think they all have different policies (will take / won’t take, book in advance, etc)

Explorer map 103 (‘The Lizard’) will be worth buying I’d say. And if you do go to the Land’s End Peninsula map 102 will be all you need. Even small branches of WHS often have them because they are both pretty popular walking / touristy areas. I’m enjoying spending your money.

All of Cornwall seems to have lots of hills and cliffs but in comparison to Scotland and the like the hills aren’t that big. On a bike they might require some fitness! I think Brown Willy (stop it!) on Bodmin Moor is the highest point of the county at 420m.
