'The Battle for Britain's Hero's' on CH4 9pm tonight looks interesting. I wonder how many would be accepted as hero's today?

Altered Carbon. Only a few episodes in but don't mind it so far Colin Bloody Wilson on Youtube. Remembered really enjoying The Outsider plus his books on the occult and such like. And of course I saw his lecture at Rome wasn't burned in a day in 2003. So lucky to be able to trawl the video archives as it were. Such a clear and articulate thinker. Highly recommended. Also Friday Night Dinner. The More I see the more I like. 5th series now Humans Marvels Agents of Shield Jools Holland. Is it my imagination, or has this show become more interesting re: guests? Enjoying the series so far. French Open. Nadal absolutely trouncing all before him

On episode 10 of altered carbon now Started the 3rd series of Being Human which i think has a lot going for it. Mortimer & Whitehouse gone fishing. Warming to it though I don't think it has quite reached the heights of an obvious comparison in The Trip. Alan Wallace - some buddhist dude on youtube talking about buddhism and science. Finished the 2nd series of Flowers which was watchable without being particularly good! Julian Barratt is just compulsive viewing.

New series of Cuckoo with Greg Davies Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle. Just about to finish series 2 on the iplayer. Mark Kermode's Secrets of the Cinema - all 5 episodes are pretty informative, but my fav was the sci fi one as the genre appeals most. Plenty of insights like how so many film directors are film buffs and homage previous films in the genre

Stayed up last night, and found myself watching an episode of "Storyville" on BBC4 - it was called something like "The Golden Age of Circus" - It really took me by surprise as just wasn't what I was expecting. I totally recommend this film - layer upon layer of vintage degradation dressed as fun, with an amazing bleak soundtrack to go with it. You just have to let it wash over you. Great stuff.
