Three weeks' worth...
Clinic – Fantasy Island. I haven’t paid that much attention to these guys for a while, though I completely loved them when they first came out. But this is an excellent album. More ‘electronic’ these days, but very much in a car boot synth styleee, Kraftwerk slumming it with a hungover New Order… https://clinicband.bandcamp.com/album/fantasy-island
Octopus Ride – II. Mysterious Swedish psych collective. Better than Goat. Just take a listen to this: https://octopusride.bandcamp.com/album/ii
Fiat Lux – Twisted Culture. Synth pop never-weres reformed to rather good effect. Stonking opening track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNT5_72fXOs
Light Conductor – Sequence Two. Canadians loving Tangerine Dream. Well-executed. One of them is a member of Besnard Lakes, but don’t let that put you off… https://lightconductor.bandcamp.com/album/sequence-two
Alex E.T. – The Ashes. Bluesy psych rock lady, quite a bit like Smoke Fairies in places, a good thing: https://alexet.bandcamp.com/album/the-ashes
Steve Nolan – Bring Out The Fear OST. Horror film score from electronic composer. I’m sure you can guess what it sounds like… https://spunoutofcontrol.bandcamp.com/album/bring-out-the-fear-ost
The Oscillation – Untold Futures. Promises much in an electro-psych-out way, but a bit dull to be honest.
Sex Magick Wizards – Your Joy My Bliss
Krokofant – Five
10,000 Russos – Superinertia
VDGG – The Charisma Years: Live in Paris 1976/Vital. Both of these albums are VERY live indeed and of course utterly terrific.
Peter Hammill – Munchen, Theater Der Jugend (1982-11-04). Yes, I’m even listening to Hammill live boots now…
Faust – So Far / BBC Sessions +. A band I’ve never really got to grips with or paid that much attention to, but thought I’d investigate off the back of the new box set. And as I’m sure is obvious to all the Faust fans out there, there’s some great stuff on both these albums. Still feel like a band who’re easier to admire than love though…
Great Ad – Deep Down Death. Mid-70s Swedish teenagers accidently invent the NWOBHM a few years early.
A.R. & Machines – Echo. Read someone online saying this was as good as ADII’s Yeti – it isn’t
Third World War – s/t. Not sure why I haven’t investigated these guys properly before, some great Edgar Broughton-ish stuff here, though clearly a unique talent in their own right: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1rNOb-n3b8
Arthur Brown/Kingdom Come – At The BBC 71-72
Iron Claw – s/t. Along with Wicked Lady, the great lost British hard rock band from the 70s. This is ludicrously heavy for 1970: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSRZz13YiqI
VA – I’m A Freak Baby 3
VA – Think I’m Going Weird (CDs 1 & 2)
