Three weeks' worth...

Clinic – Fantasy Island. I haven’t paid that much attention to these guys for a while, though I completely loved them when they first came out. But this is an excellent album. More ‘electronic’ these days, but very much in a car boot synth styleee, Kraftwerk slumming it with a hungover New Order… https://clinicband.bandcamp.com/album/fantasy-island

Octopus Ride – II. Mysterious Swedish psych collective. Better than Goat. Just take a listen to this: https://octopusride.bandcamp.com/album/ii

Fiat Lux – Twisted Culture. Synth pop never-weres reformed to rather good effect. Stonking opening track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNT5_72fXOs

Light Conductor – Sequence Two. Canadians loving Tangerine Dream. Well-executed. One of them is a member of Besnard Lakes, but don’t let that put you off… https://lightconductor.bandcamp.com/album/sequence-two

Alex E.T. – The Ashes. Bluesy psych rock lady, quite a bit like Smoke Fairies in places, a good thing: https://alexet.bandcamp.com/album/the-ashes

Steve Nolan – Bring Out The Fear OST. Horror film score from electronic composer. I’m sure you can guess what it sounds like… https://spunoutofcontrol.bandcamp.com/album/bring-out-the-fear-ost

The Oscillation – Untold Futures. Promises much in an electro-psych-out way, but a bit dull to be honest.

Sex Magick Wizards – Your Joy My Bliss

Krokofant – Five

10,000 Russos – Superinertia

VDGG – The Charisma Years: Live in Paris 1976/Vital. Both of these albums are VERY live indeed and of course utterly terrific.

Peter Hammill – Munchen, Theater Der Jugend (1982-11-04). Yes, I’m even listening to Hammill live boots now…

Faust – So Far / BBC Sessions +. A band I’ve never really got to grips with or paid that much attention to, but thought I’d investigate off the back of the new box set. And as I’m sure is obvious to all the Faust fans out there, there’s some great stuff on both these albums. Still feel like a band who’re easier to admire than love though…

Great Ad – Deep Down Death. Mid-70s Swedish teenagers accidently invent the NWOBHM a few years early.

A.R. & Machines – Echo. Read someone online saying this was as good as ADII’s Yeti – it isn’t

Third World War – s/t. Not sure why I haven’t investigated these guys properly before, some great Edgar Broughton-ish stuff here, though clearly a unique talent in their own right: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1rNOb-n3b8

Arthur Brown/Kingdom Come – At The BBC 71-72

Iron Claw – s/t. Along with Wicked Lady, the great lost British hard rock band from the 70s. This is ludicrously heavy for 1970: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSRZz13YiqI

VA – I’m A Freak Baby 3

VA – Think I’m Going Weird (CDs 1 & 2)

Brainticket - Cottonwoodhill/Psychonaut
I do adore the insane stream of consciousness espoused by 'Dawn Muir' on the epic 26 minute track Brainticket. I think I may be a little bit in love with her :)

Various - Beyond Records - Ambient Dub Volumes 1-3
Some of my fav 90's comps. Some great stuff on these, many acts appearing live at the clubs Oscillate and Dub Tub. Good Times!
Vol 1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPMWdCCgxfE
Vol:2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-u0Qnfd7d4&t=1987s
Vol:3 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtKhlNUjp3g&t=2s

Cabaret Voltaire - Living Legends

Alps - III
Sublime and chilled with tiny wig outs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej6SSbyhHMc&list=PLBCYJDQ1g88AQE6Jhipa17tT0VZuBbBm6

David Bowie - Reality
Hmm, I can see why I don't dig this out so often. Few good tracks, but so much if mid tempo filler.

The Earlies - These Were The/ The Enemy Chorus

Gnod - Easy To Build, Hard To Destroy

V/A - Rough Trade Rock and Roll Vol: 1

The Weirdos - Destroy All Music

Aplliance - 6 Modular Pieces

Pond - '9'

Sofa - Source Crossfire
Godawful name for a solid band. Musical elements similar to Shellac, Slint, Jesus Lizard et al https://sofamontreal.bandcamp.com/album/source-crossfire-2

Have a great week.x

Telstar Ponies - In The Space Of A Few Seconds. Still sounds mighty fine.

The Smithereens - Especially For You. Not quite as good as I wanted it to be, then or now. A little too slavish toward their influences. Having said that, A late comer in the psychedelic retro pastiche thing. A couple of songs I still have an emotional attachment to, but I realise now it's a sentimental attachment.

The Slits - Cut.

Screamingj Trees - Dust. The unexpected successors to the Pretty Things. Decades later and an ocean away. I swear this must of been a bizarre accident, unexpectedly wonderful. Then and now.

Q65 - Afghanistan. A word/country with shifting connotations... nicely ragged late psyche, despite that.

The Open Mind - s/t.

Nick Cave & Warren Ellis - Carnage.

Mott The Hoople - Brain Capers.

Monster Magnet - Powertrip. I feel nothing but guilt for my liking this inexplicable mix of a passable pastiche of early seventies metal and 90's cock rock. I pray there is nothing, deity like, judging us.

Flower Travelin' Band - Satori. A definite Desert Island Disc... if my anonymous middle management skills should surprisingly attract Lorens attention.

The Dead South - Good Company. Achilles is just a really good song. Honest.

Can - The Singles.

Budgie - s/t, Squawk.

My missus is partial to a bit of stoner rock, most of it passable, if not down right enjoyable, but for some reason she loves, loves, loves the later Monster Magnet album 'God Says No'. I'd have to say, not their finest hour, can just about stomach a playthrough, but drives me nuts when she hits repeat. I do have a soft spot fer the much earlier lo fi noodlings of 'Tab 25' though.

Tab 25 was my entry point. I'm genuinely bewildered as to why I enjoy them. Must be a Reptile Brain thing...
