Couple of weeks...

All Them Witches – Nothing As The Ideal / Lost And Found EP. New album from a great band who never seem to be as well-known as they should be. Difficult to describe, but they’re in that relatively small club of bands who manage to be classically ‘heavy’ but in a clever, non-generic way (closest comparison is Lullabies To Paralyze QOTSA): https://allthemwitches.bandcamp.com/album/nothing-as-the-ideal

The Golden Age Of Steam – Tomato Brain. A bit ‘challenging’ but worthwhile electronica/modern jazz thing

Spiral Drift – On The Shadow Line. Pretty generic/corporate desert rock, listening for a friend ;-0

Tangerine Dream – Pilots Of Purple Twilight. Been dipping into this excellent 10 CD retrospective of TD’s output 1980-83. Lots of unreleased stuff, but the pinnacle (for me) will always be 1982’s White Eagle, perhaps my favourite TD album. If you’ve never heard it and/or have any interest in the development of electronic music post-70s, give it a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVaE4J1Y-pA

Erkin Koray – Halimem. Latest Erkin comp. OK, but time for a proper anthology!

Pax – May God And Your Will Land You And Your Soul Miles Away From Evil. Some vintage Peruvian heaviness, but this dark psych ballad is perhaps the best track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoPAHXEaYVk

VA – Brown Acid – The Eleventh Trip. Still rolling on, and can be relied on each time to throw up at least a couple of truly deranged efforts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McrlAh7e78g
