Wasn't aware of that one. Why was the original version withdrawn?

I think it was withdrawn at Cope's insistence because he was annoyed that too many singles were being released from the 'Kilimanjaro' album.

It was just THAT sleeve which was withdrawn though JC was NOT happy at the continued corporate strip-mining of the Kilimanjaro LP. This 1981 release (Tear 4 - or 44 for 2x7") went right ahead. By the time this single/ double 7" came out on the back of the repackaged "Kilimanjaro" (which now featured "Reward" - Tear 2), the fans had already been treated to a "Treason" remix (Tear 3). Eight of the (now) twelve songs on Kilimanjaro were now to be found on various 7"-ers (albeit in different versions, mixes and edits).
The Teardrops live shows from this point in 1981 show sets with Leila Khaled, Great Dominions, Passionate Friend, Culture Bunker, Suffocate... must have been frustrating for JC firing out epic new songs while Mercury were still shredding past glories for ever diminishing returns.
