Jason Simon – A Venerable Wreck. Latest solo album from Dead Meadow guy, less heavy than DM, but a similar vibe, pretty nice: https://soundcloud.com/bymrecords/jason-simon-the-same-dream Vibravoid – Psychedelic Blueprints vol 2. Despite them apparently being around for 30 years, I’ve never heard these guys before. This is a kind of best of, and reveals them to be more than competent psychonauts, in fact edging into Loop territory at times, which is a big thumbs up from me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed8xA2C_Chc VA – Brown Acid – Tenth Trip. US proto-metal comp series still going strong. Nothing on here’s going to change your life, but some of it is compellingly weird: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSm5DQvrvjg Modern Nature – Annual Drift. – Symbiosis

A good choice of covers (Astronomy Domine, Mother Sky, Inna Gadda Da Vida) amongst plenty of their own stuff. Pretty flipping loud as well!

Hope y'all keeping well. I'm going a bit stir crazy being stuck at home (esp as we would have gone for a spring break down to North Cornwall last week had it not been covid 19nd off :( even broke out some old plastic model kits I found in the loft to break the boredom (christ what am I 12?) Anyhoo weekly musics have been.... New Order - Power Corruption and Lies, Low Life, Substance, Brotherhood. Haven't played NO in the longest time, but really enjoyed spinning these albums. Still don't really like Brotherhood that much tbh tho. Dunno who writes the song lyrics (Barney I'm guessing?) but they make me cringe even more in my semi-dotage. The Fall - Northern Attitude, Dragnet, Nations Saving Grace. Need to play The Fall more. The Prettiest Eyes - Vol: 3 This is shaping up to be a fav album. Great mix of Suicide and DFA 1979 style grungey noise. https://prettiesteyes.bandcamp.com/album/vol-3-2 Iggy, Raw Power, Stooges, Funhouse Black Sabs - Vol:4, Paranoid John Foxx - Metamatic, The Garden Carter Tutti Void - Trimvirate Coil - Live 2, Stolen and Contaminated Songs Eaters - Eaters Pretty Good NYC spawned EDM music from 2014 https://eatersdo.bandcamp.com/album/eaters Fader - In Shadow Neil Arthur and Benge produce second outing of cerebral synth pop. Good stuff! https://louderthanwar.com/fader-in-shadow-album-review/ and because I enjoyed the above I checked out... Wrangler - A Situation Benge, Mallinder (Cabs) and the guy from Tunng. Slightly darker tone synth music, but every bit as good as the above. https://wrangler.bandcamp.com/album/a-situation https://bellaunion.com/artists/wrangler/ Oh and loads of youtube glam rock slammers.....maaan we REALLY need a glam revival these days, it just makes me feel happy :) That's about all I recall. Keep well, and let's hope we don't come outta the lockdown in a feckin' police state .... glaxo babies - police state - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3pjvihscTs

While watching endless Time Team and Dad’s Army episodes, I refreshed my ears with that folk rock bassist Ashley Hutchings and his mates. I’ve gone for the years 1969-1974. That includes Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Shirley Collins, the Albion Band, Sandy Denny and even odds like Al Stewart’s Love Chronicles. My favorite is still No Roses but I had to check that I wasn’t missing anything. I’m also formulating the theory that as Copey has stated, 1974 was a vintage year for music, things went quickly downhill 1975, 1976. Indeed this creative vacuum allowed punk to thrive. What a time It was to be a teenager!
