Zofff – IV (Live in Brighton, 2017). Psych/kraut/cosmic improvising unit led by guitarist Bic Hayes (Cardiacs, Levitation etc) captured live, the kicker being that the performance featured Terry Bickers, the first time he and Hayes had played together since Levitation split in 1993. Pretty great and surprisingly cohesive stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWdQVO-6IVo

Jah Wobble – The Butterfly Effect. Oh, I didn’t realise quite how angry and post-punky Wobble had become again after his ethno-dub-jazz years. Good album and some fine wordage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vINL8S9BFao

The Jinsy Boys – Tvignest. This Is Jinsy – like the Mighty Boosh set on Craggy Island – completely passed me by when it was on (mainly because it was on Sky Atlantic), but it’s a worthy addition to the canon of surreal British comedy. This is a spin-off album. Some funny songs, and the Wicker Man-esque pagan folk is impressively spot-on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55yfkfw2Cm4

Transmaniacon – The Strange World Of Suzie Pellet. Talked a good game – Blue Oyster Cult, Mountain, Frumpy etc – but is actually a pretty dreadful combo of 80s power metal and 90s industrial.

VA – MOJO Best Of 2018. No real clunkers, and all perfectly pleasant, and it’s made me want to check out the Idles album…

Hedvig Mollastad Trio – Smells Funny

D. Rothon – Nightscapes

Ouzo Bazooka – Transporter

The Dandelion Set – A Thousand Strands. As inspired by the Buried Treasure comp from last week. Ghost Box/Broadcast fans should definitely give this a listen: https://buriedtreasure.bandcamp.com/album/a-thousand-strands

Yeti Lane – L’Aurore

Hintermass – The Apple Tree

The Moody Blues – To Our Children’s Children’s Children. Such an odd band. There’s some genuinely rocking and innovative psych here, but also loads of lachrymose MOR too, like the music from some Sunday evening trendy Christian show from the 70s.

VA – To The Outside Of Everything (CDs 1 & 2)
