William Bennett (Whitehouse) talking about his record collection

Hit the 'PDF' button next to '05'. Very interesting discussion even if you don't like Whitehouse. IanB might want to read the stuff about disco and Italian disco in particular...

c'mon ... he's not a nazi - he's a Very Naughty Boy

re Bennett: i was slightly underwhelmed by the recent "cut hands" CD, after the nutty digital damage of the afronoise download that was kicking around for a couple of years ... it's enjoyable + all that, but ... any thoughts?

I like how he makes a point to say he doesn't have a "Trophy" collection and then a few questions later is bragging about his still-sealed rare copy of an album. Just goes to show that no matter how utilitarian you claim to or try to make anything you consider a "collection" you're still always going to have prize objects. Just the nature of the thing.

That whole "negative influence" idea is interesting too. I'd never really though about it in those terms but it makes a lot of sense.

Well I only listened to Cut Hands twice in the car. Outside of the stuff released already on other albums, it is very different. Kinda reminds me of Muslimgauze.

Sometimes the blatant racist attitudes of the anti-fascist brigade pisses me off too.

I thought his comment about not having a trophy collection was in response to people who collect several versions of the same album (one for listening, a mint one for keeping, alternate country pressings...). He knows he has a very elitist collection and repeatedly refers to how rare some albums are. Of course, no one is really going to brag about their copy of The White Album.
