Doing a bit of research on this fellow and there's hardly anything out there other than lists of albums he produced. Apparently he left the biz around 1976, and doesn't like to talk about it hardly ever. (I figured he was probably DEAD, but apparently still lives in England somewhere!) Anybody got any PICTURES of this guy from the old days? (I've never seen one!) What he might be up to post-heavy metal svengali days? Here's typical of what you can find online: "Nice recent trivia about Rodger Bain fellas: a well respected and rock-serious journalist friend of mine from uk wanted to interview him for a future issue of Classic Rock uk magazine for an article related to the forthcoming Castle reissues of first 3 (?) Black Sabbath albums w/ unreleased demos from the time; he got his phone number thru common friends but...here's what happened in his words: -------------------------------- I juts spoke to his wife...he refuses to come to the phone!!! He won't talk about his production work. He's out of the business and doesn't talk to anyone. How weird is that! -------------------------------- Well "the encyclopedia of record producers" book ends Bain's entry like this so everything comes full circle "...Bain's production credits ceased after 1976. (Geezer) Butler says he thinks Bain may have become disillusioned with the business. "I think he got screwed on his royalties like we all did"..."

He has to be around somewhere (hopefully) I have found a direct link to Red Dirt yesterday and all that entails with Wil Malone and Geoff Gill and the Morgan Studio's crowd - I feel confident he will turn up somewhere in the rich vein I am mining.

Good luck! More than anything, I was hoping there was an old pic of him around somewhere? Anyone ever seen this guy's mug anywhere? He's more mysterious than Syd Barret!

I did google "Photos of Rodger Bain", but apart from some pics of the albums he produced the only thing that came up was a photo of Conrad Bain from "Diff'rent Strokes". Not much help there then...

If the copyright credits at 10 O'Clock state Gramophone company then its 'an original' if EMI then a later pressing. The Japanese paid me good money for my original.

It says EMI so I'm outta luck, & the picture must be Martin Birch as Rodger Bain didn't produce this, Purple did. DOH!

That Roger spells his name differently . . . so I assume it's someone else. (Or is the d in Rodger just some rock psuedonym thing? I thought that was his real name. Not that there's any biographical info on Wikipedia or anywhere else!) Errr, is this "Roger Bain" famous or something?
