Clan of Xymox - first album (acousti-electro gothic wonder), Colourbox (an inspiration for the the emerging bedroom recording artists with their C64's, Atari ST's etc, cutting their sampling teeth etc and Xmal Deutschland (catchy, dark guitar-driven).
Also, mustn't forget the 4AD artwork and the great 12" remix singles....
Interestingly, I was listening to Clan of Xymox's debut album today. In my opinion, it's the band's only really good LP. Nevertheless, the album contains some positively anthological tracks, such as the true founding manifesto of the golden generation of European darkwave that is STRANGER: an atmospheric, 'stormy', funereal, solemn opening, and then the propulsive rhythmic blitzkrieg, in gothic zombie robot dance fashion.
Classic stuff.
