I've always hated when someone plays Bob Seger on the jukebox! I remember a bar-lady would play the same three Bob Seger songs on the jukebox -- annoying! Of course, the same guy was responsible for the sixties classics "Rambling Man" and "2 Plus 2 Is On My Mind", but cannot be forgiven for the most annoying 'rock' song EVER -- "Old Time Rock And Roll"! "Meat and potatoes rock", as my German friend Dan put it rightly...

Of course, Lester Bangs loved it. Not sure exactly why...

You could well be right ,that I'm getting Tattoo you and Emotional rescue mixed up , but then that does not really say alot for the songs that they were writing at the time. As for the other albums I don't know, but I have always been led to believe that they consisted of songs recorded at sessions for those albums. If what you say is it destroys alot of the legend that Exile was recorded in the basement at Nellcote.

"tempted to say something nasty about him but afraid I would get banned from HH" That sounds kinda intriguing. Bob Nuerworth (or however you spell his name) was supposed to be a pretty important player in New York music scene, though I can't remember exactly how. He's the one standing next to Dylan (with his face cropped out) on the cover of Highway 61 Revisited.

Bit obvious this one, I suppose, but "Let's Dance" was the start of an awful period of music for Bowie....

You wanna have a listen to it again. While not a classic, I bet it's nowhere near as bad as you remember. I think some of Niles Rogers preoduction work on it is comparable with anything Quincey Jones was doing at the same time. "I catch a paper boy But things don't really change I'm standing in the wind But I never wave bye-bye"
