I haven't read the book but, then, neither have other people on here. What I read in this bit of "dialogue" is quite typical of "archaeological behaviour", something I have considerable experience of; ie. people who have set ideas and won't get off their high (rocking?) horse to listen to other ideas. Careers have been built on it. Grants have been awarded on it.
It's not very productive to human endeavour.
