I think you have a point in that they're entertaining, and if they get people looking for themselves then they serve a positive purpose. It would be nice to see him actually come up with something new instead of regurgitating what others have already written about (in some instances claiming they're new when they're not as he does in Fingerprints of the Gods and Sign of the Seal) years beforehand. If I see a book of his going cheap I may pick it up, I have Magicians of the Gods here, which I found in a charity shop for 10p. I may get round to reading it at some point but not going to miss anything if I don't as I've probably heard about it all before.
