>you're talking about a large pile of mud.......<

sorry, been trying to think of something sarcastic or witty to say....
but you have just blown me away with your stupidity.....this is, after all, a site for those with a deep love of ancient large piles of mud, big stones, little stones and stones with assorted scratches and scrapings on them.

Pile of mud, maybe.

Your statement, heep of shite, most definate!

So why don't all archaeologists stop digging unimportant "piles of mud" and go to work for Oxfam?

Re: Tilting the World - and sliding off-topic

Dear Smallblueplanet,
Yes, it may well be a pile of mud (and chalk), but if we can't do something about it - and about the supposed learned assemblage who promote themselves as the caretakers of our heritage - then we (the Great British Public) may as well lie down; and I for one refuse to do so.

Oh, and it's totally off-topic, but:

UK'S TOP 10 POP RICH LIST - 2003
1. Sir Paul McCartney - £760m
2. Lord Lloyd-Webber - £400m
3. Sir Cameron Mackintosh - £335m
4. Madonna £227m
5. Robert Stigwood - £199m
6. Sir Mick Jagger - £175m
7. Sir Elton John - £170m

3 of the so-called "stars" attending this apparent outpouring of global angst - in order to highlight world poverty - are worth (at 2003 prices) a combined total in excess of £1000m - and the good ol' General Public are going to have to put there hands in their pockets for a text lottery at £1.50 a pop plus network charges: give me a break!

Peace

Pilgrim

ahhh....you're one one of those who can't chew gum and walk at the same time.

Some of us ..... and I know that this will come as a shock to you .... what, with your ology and all that.....but some of us can CARE ABOUT DIFFERING THINGS AT THE SAME TIME. Honest, we can!

Spit that gum out before you trip!!! ;-)

You could change your job if you feel that Oxfam needs you more. It can't be much fun digging and getting no credit for the work.

But would we have been talking about it at all if Geldof had kept quiet. There has been world poverty and people dying for many years now, even before Geldof came along. What difference would it make to the situation if we all gave up thinking about everything else untill this was resolved.
Maybe you are only able to deal with one thing at once but some of us are quite capable of thinking of several things at the same time.
Should archaeologists stop investigating 'piles of mud' just because something worse is happening in the world?

Littlestone,
Never mind the diversion, your suggestion is superb.
