Nebra sky disk
Jan 21, 2004, 11:15
There is a feature on the Nebra sky disk in this month's National Geographic.

It also looks like the same thing is being covered in next Thursday's (29th) Horizon on BBC2.

The explanation in the magazine is less than convincing to me. Basically the ends of the two outer gold bands line up with the solstice points of sunrise and sunset and the circular group of seven gold studs represents the Pleiades. Fair enough but the other symbols are not adequately explained.

Looks great, though.
