i'm devastated, i've just found out his real name is Ronald.
..but this quote of his cheered me up:
"I posed naked snuggling with two cats for a series of calendar pictures which were a big success. I haven't seen those pictures in a long, long time, but I remember doing it -- and I've always wondered what kind of cats those were. I heard he was a great dancer too. I think he hoofs in a few of his films.

Yep, Weapon Of Choice is the track. Coincidentally, I happened to see it on VH1 yesterday when I was flicking channels. Stopped and watched the whole vid cos it is pretty good/funny.

He apparently coreographed it as well. He was a chorus line dancer for years. Which is why if you watch his early films he gats a little Travola-esque opportunity to dance.
He was also born in Glasgow.
