Re: Early Kraftwerk

I'm actually a member of that churlish minority who call Kraftwerk 1 and Radio Bremen their favourite Kraftwerk albums. They grew subtler and more innovative in later tears, but the first wave of krautrock releases, with that first sizzling Tangerine Dream LP, Kluster/Cluster 1, Amon Duul 1, Monster Movie etc. all gives me a feeling of sailing with Charon through the black mirrored seas of the id- those albums are dark and stormy and yield to no one. I guess Kraftwerk were still a little coldly intellectual even back then, but they did let themselves go as much as possible for them, which is probably why they're so embarrassed looking back. Never underestimate the juvenilia of young persons armed with an attitude and just enough technique to get by.
