erm...I'm not good at describing these sort of things but...Greenslade have a sort of keyboard based prog kind of sound, with quite catchy vocals. A bit like a slightly upbeat and less portentious ELP. Does that help? (probably not...)

Cheers Cancer Boy - yeah, I surfed the BGO site last night and saw the Forest collection. The same label has also reissued all of Pete Brown's Harvest albums on cheapo doubles. The plastic has been flexed.

Odd week for me...been quite soppy in a girly type of way, been listenin to some normal stuff really

Mazzy Star - She Hangs Brightly

The Waterboys - Fishermans Blues....bought this on cd, not heard it for bloody years. I saw them do this album at Glastonbury in '89....sunshining..everyone swiging zider and dancing round without their tops on...even the men!I had a really great year that year.

MJ Cole- Back to mine......Cinematic Orchestra, Handsome boy MS, Zero 7, Outkast......lots of funky groovy things going on here....but miffed with the Commadores track right in the middle though...

Funki Porcini- The Ultimately Empty Million Pounds......."the psychedelicatessen is back in session" bloody bloody bloody great....funky groovy 60's jaaazzzzzzzzzz...type ninja style...reminds me in parts of lonnie smith type stuff......fanks fitz dude :-)...

Suck it and See...on Pussyfoot....ahem..really rude, funky dirty choons....nearly wet myself laughing with the phone sex conversation the other day....that woman just sounds sooooo bored! hehehe!!

Stars of the lid....listened to one of theirs in bed last night having just bout a cd player for my bedroom....and i just had the most wonderful sleep ever....praps thats why me perky.

The velvets and nico...wonder if anyone has ever done Nico on "Stars in their eyes"

One I've been listening & enjoying most these past few weeks is
Múm - "Finally we are no-one" - On fatcat, icelandic and somewhere between the new Sigur-Ros & Björk(ish)? Beautifully delicate & intricate melodies, clicks, burps & jingles from synths with brass parps & drones. A real grower.

Capitol K - "Island Row" - Apparently a remix LP but saw them live last year supporting Fridge & this record is q. similar if I remember right? On XL Recordings, loadsa nice trippy electronics & beats with freaky FX guitars all over the shop. One track reminds me of old Dinosaur Jr or Flaming Lips but with electro-beats?

Royksopp - "Melody A.M." - an Xmas pressie, still think the first track (used on some mobile ad in the summer) with breakbeaty/chant hook is the best. That guy must LOVE the 400 frequency!

Bark Psychosis - "Game Over" - found this compilation goin' cheap. They bypassed me at the time but I can't work out why. There's some real formidable 8-20 min wig-outs, big expansive sound, mostly v. mellow but they sure as hell can Rock when the mood takes 'em.

Primal Scream - "Evil Heat" - Some interesting moments, notably Sick City stomp-rockin'. Still can't top Vanishing Point, fer me though.

Ochre 7 Festival - Compilation of tracks from different Ochre bands inc. a brilliant one by Applecraft (feat. Mooneye), Yellow 6, Land of Nod & an hilarious Richard Clayderman-esque moment from Skyray.

Various other compilations & samplers, for some reason always featuring the Delgados, & tracks off "Hate". Not bad, but not really too amazin' either.

I'm sure there's been more but that's all fer now, folks!

Can I recommend his latest album 'Lucky 7'. Much heavier. Probably the best thing he's done since 'Liquor In The Front'

Hey a fellow Rev fan... right on!
Ya agree that Lucky 7 is one of Rev's best but night in the box is on rotation in the car so it had to make the list. Got to see the Rev this summer with Honky (Jeff Pinkus from Butthole Surfers new band)
most fun/best show I've been to in quite awhile.
