HMHB are one of my favourite bands, and I've almost always found at least a track or two that I really like on every album they've done, although it's sometimes taken a couple of listens. Sometimes it's been instant. National Shite Day springs to mind. CSI Ambleside was on balance a fine album. Evening of Swing has been Cancelled, and Problem Chimp at Ideal Home Show also hit the mark, even if they never had the immediacy of National Shite Day. '90 Bisodol (Crimond) a bit less so. Tommy Walsh's Eco House was an instant favourite. Descent of The Stiperstones raised a smile on first hearing but it's not an album I often play. Urge for Offal has had quite a few plays, and Adam Boyle's Cast Lad Roack Aside has grown on me, but there aren't many tracks that would make my top 20 HMHB songs I listened to most of their latest on spotify a few weeks ago, and nothing really grabbed me. Perhaps if I give it a few more plays something will stick.

Since Achtung Bono they've put out some pretty funny and insightful records.. and some of what Blackwell writes is totally off the wall and pretty insightful. Bisodol and Offal are hit-and-miss at best and the latest one doesn't stand out to me at all. Some of the tracks feel half-written and unfinished. I think when I see HMHB've got a new record out I expect Blackwell to emerge once more with wry, hilarious assertions of shite modern life/culture. Writing a song called Knobheads on Quiz Shows makes me wonder 'didn't they already put one out called that?'.

True that :) Last time I saw them the gig was full of people wearing Torquay United shirts with "Bell" written on the backs.

That too. Also Dukla Prague away kits. Very literal minded, HMHB fans.
