Red Snapper - Prince Blimey

Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up I'm Dreaming. A bit too much energy - hyperactive

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sands

Queen - Innuendo

Ursula Rucker - Supa Sister

The Phantom Band - Checkmate Savage. Still sounding really strong

Phantogram - Eyelid Movies

Graham Nash - Songs for Beginners

David Crosby - If only I could remember my name

Nadja - Radiance of Shadows

New Order - Technique

Anais Mitchell - Hadestown

Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire

America - Greatest Hits

Mugstar - Sun, Broken & Lime

Davy Graham - Folk, Blues and Beyond

DJ Shadow - Pre-emptive Strike. Didn't really do it for me and I like the dude

Chilly Gonzalez - The Entertainist. Need to give this more attention. Comedy and hip hop seemed to be themes

Chilly Gonzales & Jarvis Cocker - Room 29. Starting to develop a distaste for Jarvis. Seems a bit up himself. Quite glad he is no longer on 6 music as it really used to do my noggin in. Shame as he had quite a good taste in music.

From what I can remember from the last two weeks in Scotland and Shetland:

Daryl Hall & John Oates ‘Beauty On A Back Street’ and ‘No Goodbyes’
Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real s/t (This is seriously fine. Had I heard it last year it would’ve deffo been my album of 2017)
Sassafras ‘Expecting Company’
Widowmaker s/t
Grateful Dead ‘Anthem Of The Sun’
The Who ‘Sell Out’ and ‘Magic Bus’ 45
Julian Cope ‘Trip Advizer’ (CD and EP)
Nirvana (UK) ‘The Story Of Simon Simonpath’
John Martyn ‘The Tumbler’ and ‘London Conversation’
Al Stewart ‘Bedsitter Images’ and the near perfect ‘Love Chronicles’
Bert Jansch ‘LA Turnaround’ (I owe Stuart Maconie a pint for playing a track off this a couple of months back. Why have I waited 44 years to get into this?)
The Beatles ‘Rubber Soul’ and ‘Rain’ 45 in high impact mono
Richard Thompson ‘Mock Tudor’
Michael Chapman ‘Fully Qualified Survivor’
Deep Purple ‘Made In Japan’, ‘Made In Europe’, ‘Stormbringer’ and ‘Come Taste The Band’
Rainbow ‘Rising’
Tommy Bolin ‘The Ultimate’
Eels ‘Tomorrow Morning’
Thom Yorke ‘The Eraser’
Discharge ‘Decontrol’ EP
Disorder ‘Complete Disorder’ EP
Various Grind Crusher - The Ultimate Earache’
Bill Lloyd ‘Heavy Duty’
Keith Jarrett ‘Standards Vol.1’
Tons of Brubeck. Hundredweights of Miles. Several pounds each of Coltrane and Maynard Ferguson.
Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham ‘The Best Of’ (both volumes - when in Shetland...)
Charley Pride ‘Make Mine Country’
Johnny Cash ‘The Man In Black’ superb, half-forgotten 1971 LP
Clive Gregson & Christine Collister ‘Mischief’ and ‘The Last Word’
Clive Gregson ‘Bittersweet’
Beethoven: Symphonies 3, 5, 6, 7 & 9 (Erich Kleiber)

These things I know: we’ve been shit on far too long, but I see a rainbow rising. How d’you like the new me?

Have a great week, all!

Discharge ‘Decontrol’ EP

Now there is a blast from the past! Not listened to that for many a year. Nice to see next to the likes of Keith Jarrett and Beethoven. Hope you've had a good time in Shetland. Been in Scotland all my life but never ventured that far up North.

I did have a good time in Shetland thank you, as I do every year. Every now and then I dig out a few hardcore punk 45s from my youth and they never fail to thrill: Decontrol is a classic case in point. I don’t doubt you’re the same!
